ADHD May Predict Depression and Suicidality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A recent study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry showed that children diagnosed with ADHD between 4 to 6 years old were at higher risk of developing depression and suicidality in their teen years.\u00a0 Girls were at especially higher risk than boys.\u00a0 Patients with Attention Deficit Disorder have different subtypes, with and without Hyperactivity.\u00a0 It appeared that patients with just attention problems were at higher risk of depression and those with hyperactivity were at higher risk of suicidality.<\/p>\n<p>This study indicates the importance of identifying and treating ADHD as early as possible to prevent these issues.\u00a0 Parents should discuss treatment options with their physicians.\u00a0 ADHD can be treated with medications and\/or cognitive behavioral therapy.<\/p>\n<p>An excellent book on Attention Deficit Disorder is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a title=\"Driven to Distraction\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Driven-Distraction-Recognizing-Attention-Childhood\/dp\/0684801280\/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1286517802&amp;sr=1-4\">Driven to Distraction<\/a><\/span>;
