Scouts, music programs, academic clubs, sports, and 4H are just\u00a0a few options that can be beneficial or detrimental depending on the number of hours taken away from family and <a href=\"https:\/\/childdevelopmentinfo.com\/learning\/tips-help-child-get-back-track-missing-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">homework time<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The pressure to be overly involved is due to many factors:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0<strong>Parental Push<br \/>\n<\/strong>Some parents live vicariously through their children. Step back and take a look at what the motivation is for having your child participate in an activity. Ask yourself questions like &#8216;Is my child skilled or do they show an interest in this activity? Does this program supplement and aid in the academic progress of my child or take away from it?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0<strong>Peer Pressure<br \/>\n<\/strong>Many kids follow their friends into activities that aren\u2019t always a good fit. Make sure their choice is based on their desire and aptitude, not their anxiety over not doing what their friends are doing.
